Concreting Services Across the Sunshine Coast

Concrete is the one part of a property people notice every single day and only think about when it goes wrong: a cracked driveway, a sunken path, a pool surround that has lifted, a shed slab that never quite drained. Getting it right the first time comes down to the prep work you cannot see once the pour is done, the base, the compaction, the steel, the drainage falls and the joints.

We work with concreting crews right across the Sunshine Coast, from Maroochydore and Buderim through the coastal strip at Mooloolaba, Kawana Waters and Golden Beach, north to Coolum Beach and Peregian, south to Caloundra and Pelican Waters, and inland to Nambour, Sippy Downs and Beerwah. Whether you need a plain driveway poured, an exposed aggregate finish that handles the salt air, a polished floor through a renovation or an old slab resurfaced instead of ripped up, we can put you in front of someone who does that work locally.

The Coast throws a few specific problems at concrete. The marine environment is the big one: homes near the water at Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Coolum and Caloundra cop constant salt-laden air, so getting enough concrete cover over the steel matters if you want a driveway or pool surround that is not spalling and rust-staining in ten years. Ground conditions swing hard too. You go from loose coastal sand along the beaches, to the deep red volcanic soil up on Buderim, to reactive clay and basalt soils in the Blackall Range hinterland behind Nambour and Maleny, and then the low river flats and canal estates near the Maroochy River and Pelican Waters where a high water table and acid sulfate soils change how a slab has to be prepped and drained. On top of that the subtropical wet season brings heavy summer downpours and humidity, which is exactly when a pour has to be timed and cured properly. A concreter who works your area already knows all of this.

Tell us your suburb and what you are trying to do and we will get you a quote. There is no cost and no obligation to go ahead.

Concreting for Every Job on the Coast

Driveways, Paths & Exposed Aggregate

The driveway is the biggest piece of concrete most people ever buy, and the one where prep matters most. A driveway carries vehicle loads, so it needs a properly compacted base, the right thickness, steel through it and joints in sensible places. Skip any of that on the Coast's reactive hinterland clay or loose coastal sand and you get cracking within a few summers.

Finish is the other half of the decision. Plain concrete is the cheapest and does the job. Exposed aggregate washes back the surface to reveal the stone underneath, which gives grip underfoot and hides marks well, and it is a popular choice around Coast pools and beach houses because it copes with wet feet and salt. Coloured and stencil finishes sit in between.

Polished Floors, Slabs & Resurfacing

Polished concrete has become a standard finish in new Coast builds and beach-house renovations, partly because it works with slab heating and partly because it just wears well and shrugs off sandy foot traffic. It can be done as a grind and seal on an existing slab or as a full mechanical polish, and the two cost quite different amounts.

If you are pouring new, slabs for sheds, garages and granny flats are routine work. If your existing concrete is structurally fine but looks tired, resurfacing is usually cheaper and faster than demolition and a fresh pour.

How It Works

  1. Tell us about the job: your suburb, rough size, and what you want done. Photos help if you have them.
  2. We match you to a local crew: a concreter who works your part of the Coast and does that type of finish.
  3. They quote you directly: most jobs need a site visit, because access and the state of the existing base change the price.
  4. You decide: the quote is free and there is no obligation to go ahead.

Because we work with crews across the whole Sunshine Coast, you get someone local rather than a company charging you travel from Brisbane or Brisbane.

Concreting FAQs

How much does a concrete driveway cost on the Sunshine Coast?

It depends on the area in square metres, the finish, how much demolition and excavation is needed, and how good the access is. Plain concrete is the cheapest option and exposed aggregate or coloured finishes cost more. Steep or sandy blocks and long barrow runs add to it. Every job needs a site visit to price properly, so call us and we will get you a real quote rather than a guess.

Does salt air near the water affect my concrete?

It can. Homes close to the beach or the water sit in a marine environment, and salt-laden air is what drives rust in the steel and surface spalling over time. The fix is not exotic: the right mix and enough concrete cover over the reinforcement, plus sealing where it makes sense. A concreter who works the coastal suburbs will build this in without being asked.

Can you resurface my old concrete instead of replacing it?

Often yes. If the existing slab is structurally sound and not badly cracked or moving, resurfacing costs less and takes less time than demolition and a new pour. If the slab has deep cracks or has dropped, replacement is usually the better call. A concreter needs to look at it to tell you which.

Do I need council approval for a driveway on the Sunshine Coast?

The slab on your own land generally does not need approval, but the vehicular crossing where your driveway meets the road does need Sunshine Coast Council approval, and the Council has its own specifications for it. Stormwater and drainage can also come into it on some blocks. Your concreter will usually know the local requirements and how to arrange the crossing.

What areas of the Sunshine Coast do you cover?

The whole region, from Maroochydore and Buderim through the coastal strip at Mooloolaba and Kawana Waters, north to Coolum Beach and Peregian, south to Caloundra and Pelican Waters, and inland to Nambour, Sippy Downs and Beerwah. See our suburbs page for detail.
